What does it mean to be a MARe volunteer?

A taste for art and culture, the desire to offer your time and knowledge, motivation and confidence, team spirit, and the belief that when we collaborate, we can make a real difference. These are the essential ingredients for becoming a MARe volunteer.

You will discover from the inside how a contemporary museum operates and you will directly contribute to projects, exhibitions, workshops, or special events.

The three levels of involvement are: Explorer Volunteer (8h/week); Contributor Volunteer (12h/week); Connector Volunteer (20h/week). Each completed level of volunteering qualifies you for a different benefits package, from free access to museums and art galleries in Romania to free admission to MARe for your loved ones or preferential spots in MARe courses or guided tours.

CURATORIAL

At MARe, the curatorial department shapes contemporary art exhibitions and organizes events that create connections between the public, artists, and ideas—from guided tours to talks and special encounters. Volunteers can contribute to preparing exhibitions and ensuring the smooth running of curatorial events.

EVENTS

The MARe events department coordinates the organization of corporate, private, or special events, all tailored to the museum’s space and spirit—from receptions and celebrations to launches or business meetings. Volunteers can assist the team with logistical preparation, welcoming guests, and coordinating details on the day of the event.
